Ask me anything
“ Because we don’t know when we will die, we get to think of life as an inexhaustible well, yet everything happens only a certain number of times, and a very small number, really. How many more times will you remember a certain afternoon of your childhood, some afternoon that’s so deeply a part of your being that you can’t even conceive of your life without it? Perhaps four or five times more, perhaps not even that. How many more times will you watch the full moon rise? Perhaps twenty. And yet it all seems limitless. ”
The Sheltering Sky by Paul Bowles
Joe Says: I really don’t give a shit about Apple. In fact if you read the fine print, you don’t own your own iPod or the music you put there, so put that in your pipe and smoke it as Apple could repo your shiny new iPad/phone/pod anytime it wanted to with its Apple Minority Report Police. But this is funny, with all the outing of hypocrisy that is Apple.
Joe Says: While unclogging my laptop today I found this. Don’t know why it was there, but it was. I thought I’d share…
Joe Says: While I’m not a tin-foil hat wearer (as far as you know), I do believe that Cory makes several valid points. Buying in to the Apple philosophy is essentially dumbing down not only our own future, but that of our kids. I am old enough to recall the days of messing around with the Apple II computers and programming code, all of which is now obsolete in the new Apple ecosystem. Only what Cupertino wants out there will be released. My philosophies differ so greatly from that “Mother Brain Trust” that I highly doubt anything I ever produced for the iPod or iPad would ever see the light of day. I want the “joefuckingrules kids” to grow up knowing how to change batteries, oil, and operating systems. I want them to be free thinkers. This is why I won’t be buying them an iPad. Cory says everything I was bouncing around but couldn’t put down in my blog in any intelligible manner. Go read his article and at the end put a big fucking “Joe Says: Yeah what he said” after it. And before you think I am just nay saying, I do believe that the device is neat in theory, but the inherent coolness is killed by the hugely overpriced hardware and closed door model for applications and software.
My teeth rule…except the lower wisdom tooth on the right…we’re coming for you fucker…by any means necessary
