Droids
MorbidKitten: I hope I get the Android 2.1 update one day...
JFR: You should already have it, I think 2.2 is Froyo
MorbidKitten: Hm...maybe I actually have it. It says that the firmware is 2.1-update1.
I don't know any of the names of the updates, though...
JFR: Froyo is 2.2, I think, and it may come out August 6th. That's the one that is supposed to turn our droids into flying unicorns that shit gold coins.
MorbidKitten: Now I really can't wait...

BP Considering Dividend Suspension... →
Joe Says: Now how about a bonus suspension for executives so it isn’t just retirees and investors who are affected by BP’s mistakes?  No mention of that.  Just sayin’

Ok all you iPad early adopters...
Joe Says: Don’t you feel silly?  I mean tomorrow they are going to announce iPad for Verizon.  Just in case you forgot, that is the better cellular service.   That announcement is the reason AT&T is punishing you with higher data rates as of tomorrow.  Because the early adopters will use up all their bandwidth and nobody will finance their shitty 3G after tomorrow who isn’t...

Let us honor all things ovarian
suddenly: Let the fallopian festival begin. Celebrate, with us, the cervix, the uterus and that thick rich soup of hormones known as mother, from whence we all once issued, trailing streams of glory, streaks of amniotic fluid and the tatters of umbilica.

Joe Says: I really don’t give a shit about Apple.  In fact if you read the fine print, you don’t own your own iPod or the music you put there, so put that in your pipe and smoke it as Apple could repo your shiny new iPad/phone/pod anytime it wanted to with its Apple Minority Report Police.  But this is funny, with all the outing of hypocrisy that is Apple.

Coworker #1 (In his outdoor voice): Shit like this is going to lose us this account. Why isn't there a report for 4-7-10?
Me: You mean today?
Coworker #1 (In his stressed out outdoor voice): Yes, today. These need to be done daily.
Me: I would have totally done it, as a matter of fact I set some time up but some total asshat scheduled a conference call to talk about reports.
Coworker #1: ...
Me: That would be you.
Coworker 2 via Text: OMG You just said that out loud! You are so fucking fired.
Me: Its the truth (name redacted), and if you spent less time texting you would have more time to help me write reports.
Coworker 2 via Text: Dick.

Why Cory Doctorow Won't Be Buying an iPad (and... →
Joe Says: While I’m not a tin-foil hat wearer (as far as you know), I do believe that Cory makes several valid points.  Buying in to the Apple philosophy is essentially dumbing down not only our own future, but that of our kids.  I am old enough to recall the days of messing around with the Apple II computers and programming code, all of which is now obsolete in the new Apple ecosystem. ...

I'm officially a Little League dad...
I’m now a Little League dad…goodbye Challenger League (Baseball League for Handicapped Kids). After all that preparation of the coaches for Jared’s disabilities this morning at the “real league” tryouts, they (the coaches) now think I’m the one who is challenged…way to make your dad look like an ass buddy. Congrats Jared!  Today you fucking rule!

Wow...Toys for Tots is in trouble... →
Joe Says: Economic woe, crappity crap.  People have become so wrapped up in trying to get enough “stuff” for their own family that donations have dropped as requests have soared. My personal challenge to each of you.  Take 1 (just one) present that is supposed to go under your tree and donate it to Toys for Tots.  I plan on going out and getting something for these guys monday, I...

Open Letter to ABC re: A Charlie Brown Christmas
TO: ABC FROM: Leon Lynn RE: Desecration of “A Charlie Brown Christmas” 12/8/09 Dear ABC, How could you? For years and years I have awaited the network broadcast of “A Charlie Brown Christmas” as the true herald of the holiday season. I brought my kids up with the same tradition — one which has been made no less special for us by the fact that they happen to be...

What is joefuckingrules.com?
The answer?  I’m not quite sure.  I know what I want it to be.  I want it to affect people, I want it to make them think about things and how they view the world.  Right now it is a scattered collection of random thoughts and pictures.  Soon it will be more cohesive.  Every day there will be something thought provoking and interesting (if only to me). Thanks for watching.  See you...

The Forza Conundrum...
I have not yet reached any of the higher levels yet in driver skill or car recognition.  How does one write a review?  In essence at a certain point, as with all “racers”, it becomes more of the same for the sake of a better title.   Do I dare write a review without having finished the game in its entirety?

So I just went back to an old article I wrote for Destructoid a while ago, like a looooong time ago.  Turns out one of the people I critiqued ended up posting a response to my review of the event.  All I can say is “FUCKING WOW”.  First off, I gave his production company an A, so I don’t see what the problem was.  Secondly, when someone writes a review, don’t show up in the...

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Review
Joe Says: I am famous for my one word reviews.  In this instance, however, since I am sufficiently alone in my feeling on the overall value of Modern Warfare 2; I felt the need to explain myself.  Enjoy. Introduction/Background About 7 years ago, Infinity Ward released Call of Duty 1.  This game was based on the Quake III Arena engine, and was a FPS based on World War II.  The game, although...

For the third year running, Desert Bus For Hope will collect donations for Child’s Play charity, an organization that provides games and toys to children’s hospitals. They’ll play a marathon-length session of the infamous “Desert Bus” mini game from Penn & Teller’s Smoke and Mirrors. The “Desert Bus” sequence is notorious because it recreates the drive between Tucson and Arizona in real...
